What Does a Medical Devices Representative Do?
A medical representative's job is to promote and sell their company's products - medical equipment. Customers can include doctors, surgeons, nurses and pharmacists. The medical devices representative will increase product awareness, answer queries, provide advice and introduce new products. It's a hands on role, often instructing HCPs how to use their equipment and products.
Your Manager will expect you to:
- Organise appointments and meetings with HCPs and Hospital Specialist staff
- Identify and establish new business
- Negotiate contracts with health care providers
- Demonstrating or presenting products to healthcare staff including doctors, nurses and pharmacists
- Undertaking relevant and ongoing training
- Meet both the business and scientific needs of healthcare professionals
- Maintain detailed records of your activity and interactions
- Attend and organise trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings
- Manage your budgets – both sales and expenses
- Regularly review sales performance
- Write reports and other documents
